Prof Michael Kidd AM - Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Flinders University


Professor Michael Kidd is a general practitioner and the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Flinders University and has responsibility for the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the faculty's research and education programs programs in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Michael has been and adviser with the World Health Organisation (WHO) as an adviser on the primary care management of mental health in the island nations of the Western Pacific region and on the development of chronic disease prevention and management initiatives in low and middle income nations.

Michael is involved in many community initiatives and is a Director on a number of boards including beyondblue, the Arts and Health Foundation, General Practice Education and Training and the Channel 7 Children's Research Foundation.  He is the chair of the Australian Government's Ministerial Advisory Committee on Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections.

Michael is lined up to be the next President of the World Organisation of Family Doctors.  He is also a past President of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Michael’s commitment to health education has also led him to co-author several books which have been released worldwide.
