Privacy Statement

Future Health Leaders (FHL) is an organisation established by Health Workforce Australia (HWA).

HWA is committed to protecting your privacy. Our aim is to provide an environment which will ensure the personal information you provide to us is handled in a secure, efficient and confidential manner.

 

Information collection and privacy protection

FHL is subject to the Information Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2012A00197. With effect from 12 March 2014, the Australian Privacy Principles will replace the Information Privacy Principles. Any information you provide to FHL will be used only for the purposes set out below and will not be disclosed to any other party without your consent.

 

Information logged from our websites

When you visit our websites, our server records your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes or systems administration purposes:

  • your server address
  • your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
  • the date and time of your visit to the site
  • the pages you accessed and documents downloaded
  • the previous site you visited
  • the type of browser you are using.

Your information is used:

  • for the purpose for which you provided it eg for us to respond to your question
  • to analyse the demographics of respondents.

Your personal details will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose.

Permission will explicitly be sought if your personal details are intended to be used for any other purpose e.g. FHL may wish to add your details to our mailing lists so that we can send you FHL news or request feedback from you about FHL projects or website functionality. On some pages of our websites, we may request additional information or indicate that we may use your personal information for specified purposes or disclose it to specified organisations.

We will not identify anonymous users or their browsing activities unless legally compelled to do so, for example where a law enforcement agency exercises a warrant to inspect the log files.

 

Cookies

Our websites use cookies to maintain contact with you throughout a website session. A cookie is a piece of information that our website sends to your browser when you access information at our website.

Our websites also use Google Analytics to collect information about visitors. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies and JavaScript code to help analyse how users use the site. It anonymously tracks how our visitors interact with a website, including where they came from, what they did on the site including such things as newsletter registration. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google uses this information to compile reports on website activity and provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage.

Our websites contain links to other sites. FHL is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties or the material contained in a website linked to our websites.

 

Security

FHL applies a range of security controls to protect its websites from unauthorised access. However, the World Wide Web is an insecure public network. There is a risk that your transactions are viewed, intercepted or modified by third parties or that files which you download contain computer viruses, disabling codes, worms or other devices or defects. If you do not wish to email or send an online form to FHL, please write to us at the address below.

FHL accepts no liability for any interference with or damage to your computer system, software or data occurring in connection with our websites or their use. You are encouraged to take appropriate precautions to ensure that material downloaded from our websites is free of viruses or other contamination that may interfere with or damage your computer system, software or data.

Privacy complaints

If you have any complaints about acts or practices regarding personal information held by FHL, complaints can be made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) which has the power to award compensation against FHL in appropriate circumstances.

You can make a privacy complaint by using the OAIC online Privacy Complaint form found at: https://forms.business.gov.au/aba/oaic/privacy-complaint-/ (note this site requires Adobe Reader 9.3 or later which you can download from the page).

When you complete and submit a form your information is not accessible to anyone other than the OAIC.
