Inspiring Ideas Forum - Empowering Innovation in Health

At FHL, we believe students and early career health professionals can make a significant contribution to improving the health of all Australians. We know that some of the simplest ideas can have the biggest impact and we want to inspire the next generation of health leaders to turn their ideas into action.

On Saturday 28 June 2014, FHL is hosted a one-day forum in Melbourne. The Inspiring Ideas Forum included three dynamic and exciting sessions: ‘Engage’, ‘Challenge’ and ‘Innovate’, which provided delegates with key skills to turn their ideas into reality.

The ‘engage’ session showcased innovative programs from across Australia that are creating positive change in their communities. Speakers from successful student and early career lead projects, Realising Education and Access in Collaborative Health (REACH), and the waterwell project presented an insight into their organisations and enlightened delegates on how they were inspired to make a difference.

The ‘challenge’ session was interactive, encouraging participants to identify problems or improvement opportunities within their day-to-day life.

‘Innovate’ was the third session where delegates attended workshops to put into practice what they’ve learnt. Participants were given everyday problem, identify their target and a solution before presenting how they will initiate change through the ideas photo booth. Dr Sam Prince from 1Disease at a Time also shared his inspiring story with the delegates.

The event also included entry to 'Celebrate' - the evening social event which was held after the forum at Rydges on Swanston Street. Delegates had the opportunity to create a lasting professional network whilst enjoying complimentary canapés and drinks on the spectacular rooftop pool deck. The 'Celebrating Inspiring Ideas' compendium was launched at this event. The compendium showcased organsations and projects that have been started in the last few years and have seen sucess in seeing changes in the communities they work in with a unique insight into thier stories. The Compendium is now available for download.
