about the conference

The inaugural Future Health Leaders Conference: Shaping Tomorrow Today! took place on 1 & 2 September 2012 in Adelaide. Bringing together 300 delegates from across Australia with a unique mix of backgrounds, disciplines and experiences, the conference provided delegates with an opportunity to initiate ideas, confront challenges and explore possible solutions for Australia’s future health system.
Over the two day program, delegates explored global, national and local perspectives on health issues through plenary, workshop and facilitated sessions. Delegates selected a stream of interest including: rural health, global health, Indigenous health, mental health and workforce innovation. Delegates accessed a large Opportunities Summit which showcased opportunities for students and early career health professionals, as well as providing testimonials from people who have worked or studied somewhere out of the ordinary.
The aim of the conference was to ‘Turn Ideas Into Action’, through establishing an innovative platform for idea generation and creating strong networks to build the Future Health Leaders membership base.
